WEST DOVER — Mount Snow safely evacuated about 190 guests from a chairlift that stopped operating Saturday.

"Mount Snow extends its apologies to the guests who were inconvenienced by this event," the West Dover-based ski resort said in a statement.

The Challenger Lift, which is on the North Face at the mountain where terrain is for advanced skiers and snowboarders, stopped running at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Guests were evacuated with no reported injuries by 1:40 p.m., according to the statement.

Mount Snow said it "places the highest value on the safety of its guests," and the Challenger lift was inspected following the incident. On Saturday, the lift had been expected to reopen Sunday and did.

Jamie Storrs, spokesman for the resort, said there would be no further comments.
