WESTMINSTER — At approximately 1:27 a.m., the Vermont State Police was notified of a crash on Interstate 91 north at mile marker 31 in Westminster.

An investigation determined the operator of a FedEx International truck pulling two trailers, Dalmar Aden, 27, of Essex Junction, lost control while traveling north, in part due to road conditions. This caused his truck and one trailer to travel down the bridge embankment onto Vermont Route 121, totaling both units. The second trailer remained on Interstate 91 near mile marker 31, causing major damage to the road surface and guard rails.

The operator of the second tractor trailer unit, Curtis Cottrell, 59, of Greenville, S.C., struck the second disconnected trailer on the interstate totaling it and blocking both lanes. There were minor injuries reported by both operators, but both declined medical

attention.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 91, between Exit 5 and 6 were closed for an extended period of time while vehicles were being removed and the bridge is being inspected by members of Vermont Agency of Transportation.

Vermont State Police were assisted at the scene by members of Golden Cross Ambulance Service, Westminster Fire Department and employees of VTrans.
