BRATTLEBORO — Leland & Gray varsity boys soccer coach Chris Barton earned the Vermont Soccer Coaches Association’s Service to Soccer Award, which recognizes someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and their normal job responsibilities to promote the game of soccer and create opportunities for Vermont high school soccer players.
“The Service to Soccer Award was presented to outgoing President Chris Barton for his years of service both on the sidelines at Leland & Gray and as an officer of the VSCA, culminating in his successful term as President,” was reported from this year’s VSCA meeting.
Barton guided the Rebels to a 4-2-1 regular season and the No. 5 seed in the Division 3 Tournament. In the playoffs, his team defeated Bellows Falls and then lost to Peoples Academy.
The VSCA’s coaches of the year are: Peoples Academy’s Angie Faraci (boys small school), Burlington’s Fran DeMasi (boys large school), Enosburg’s Renee Pattee (girls small school), and Spaulding’s Rob Moran (girls large school).
