BRATTLEBORO — Nick Bingham and Ayoub Lajhar scored second-half goals on Tuesday evening as the Brattleboro varsity boys soccer team came from behind to beat rival Mount Anthony Union 4-3.
"Brattleboro pulled out another gritty win," noted BUHS coach Ben Brewer, whose team upped its record to 2-0.
Alex Lier and Lajhar each split the posts for the Colonels in the first 40 minutes, however the hosts would go to the break trailing 3-2.
"Going into halftime down 3-2, Brattleboro was confident. We dominated possession (in the first half) and besides a couple errors that led to goals, Brattleboro had the better chances," added Brewer.
Bingham came up with a scrappy goal in the box to deadlock the contest at 3-3 with 25 minutes remaining. Seventeen minutes later, Lajhar ran onto a cross and beat the MAU goalie to become the hero.
WOODSTOCK — Leland & Gray played Woodstock to a 0-0 tie on Tuesday. The Rebels had three near misses, hitting the crossbar twice and a post once. Visiting goalie Hunter Fillion made three saves to earn a shutout.
