BRATTLEBORO — Hailey Derosia went off for 20 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and four steals as the Brattleboro Union High School varsity girls basketball team topped Drury, 64-49, on Wednesday night.

"Not only were we the better team, but there was no doubt when the final horn sounded who was the best player in our gym. Hailey was a beast," said BUHS coach Paul Freed.

The visitors had scored 71 points in their previous game, including 33 by Brooke DiGennaro. The Colonels held the Drury star to just 10 points.

"We came out with great energy, going up 16-4," noted Freed, whose team would go 11 for 15 at the charity stripe in the final frame. "This was a very big win for us."

Nicole Norcia and Rachael Rooney each finished with a dozen points for the 7-6 Colonels. Lauren McKenney (7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals) and Megyn Ayotte (9 points, 6 rebounds) also came through.

Brattleboro will host Rutland on Saturday at 1 p.m.
