WILMINGTON — The defending Division 4 champion Twin Valley varsity boys soccer team was upset by Rivendell, 2-1.Garrett Stever and Josiah Welch each scored for the winners, with the goal by Welch breaking a 1-1 tie with 20 minutes remaining.

Colin McHale tallied for the 1-1 Wildcats. Goalie Liam Wendell finished with eight saves.

In Westminster, Mack Ross had a hat trick on Friday to guide Bellows Falls to a 3-2 win over Mill River.

Jamison Nystrom set up two of BF's three goals. Owen Edwards also had an assist.

"First-year goalie Bayley Sbardellati has been working hard on learning the position and is improving every day. He had a very good game in goal," said winning coach Eric Nystrom. "Tylar Stanley did a great job on defense, containing Mill River's weapons up front. 

The Terriers improved to 1-2 overall.

The game was video recorded by Falls Area Community TV (FACT TV) out of Bellows Falls and the plan is to air the game at a later date.

Field Hockey

BRATTLEBORO — Goalie Jaia Caron earned a shutout as the Bellows Falls varsity field hockey team outscored Brattleboro 8-0 on Friday.

"Brattleboro played a good game, never letting down," said BF coach Bethany Coursen, whose team improved to 2-0.

Maya Waryas had a hat trick to lead the winners. Ashlynn Boucher tallied twice.

Grace Bazin and Julianna McDermid each scored their first varsity goal. BF's other tally came off the stick of Ashlin "Max" Maxfield.
