WESTMINSTER — On Columbus Day, the fans at Bellows Falls Union High School made a discovery of their own.

Hunter Fillion is pretty good.

The junior keeper made five saves to earn a shutout as the Leland & Gray varsity boys soccer team topped the host Terriers 3-0.

"Our defense really played well," said winning coach Chris Barton, who gave the game ball to senior back Luke Parker-Jennings.

The Leland & Gray defense stepped up down the stretch, with Parker-Jennings coming up with a steal, Owen Ameden staying in front of striker Jamison Nystrom, and Fillion making a highlight stop.

"We could have put a few more shots in the goal," noted Barton, whose team improved to 3-1-1 overall. "We had a lot of nice give-and-goes and through balls."

Trevor Plimpton scored the game-winning goal 11 minutes in. With plenty of time and space on the right wing, he drove the ball along the ground and just inside the left post.

Plimpton later put a lead pass right on the foot of Riley Barton, who was left with an easy one-on-one finish.

Midway through the second half, Dylan Landers capped the scoring with a 25-yard blast upstairs.

Just after the match began, the Bellows Falls Stickers took a break from practice to perform a cheer for the home team.

Tyler Stanley and Elijah Ghia made early clears for the Terriers. Jack Cravinho contributed with an accurate pass ahead to Alex Hrabchak.

Nystrom took three of BF's five total shots, while Elliot Graham and Cravinho also had chances. Goalie Bayley Sbardellati made eight saves for the hosts.
