BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Union High School varsity girls soccer team lost to Woodstock 2-1 on Thursday evening.
“Sophomore Sophia Albright was an inspiration to her team and the crowd with her determination and play in the left wing forward position,” noted BUHS coach Ron Svec. “Augustina McGillion, in the right center back position, used her speed and determination to our advantage in defense and delivered consistently well-placed long balls for our set pieces and corners.”
Greta Neddenriep did the scoring for the Colonels, assisted by McGillion. Mariah Fellows finished with eight saves.
“It was a very exciting game, with two well-matched teams,” said Svec. “The two goals for Woodstock came as a result of misplayed balls on our behalf, which were unfortunate but serve to help us learn and easily correct for the next game on Saturday.”
Zadie Olmstead and Charlie-Ella Miller played a very solid and attacking midfield, according to their coach.
