WINCHESTER, N.H. — New Hampshire State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed one person and sent four others to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Police said John Lafreniere, 47, of Keene, was killed in the head-on crash that occurred around 1 p.m. on Route 10 between Coombs Bridge and Westport Village roads, just north of Monadnock Speedway.

Police said Lafreniere was heading northbound on Route 10 when his 2011 Chevrolet Impala crossed the center line and struck a 1997 Ford dump truck driven by Joseph Green, 25, of Keene. Lafreniere was the only occupant of his vehicle, while Green's vehicle was occupied by an adult female (age 25) and two children ages 5 and 6. Green and the other occupants received serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They were transported to the Cheshire Medical Center by ambulance and later, Green and one of the children were transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical center by the DHART helicopter.

Police said that speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, but all other potential contributing factors are under investigation.

The New Hampshire State Police were assisted on scene by the Winchester Police and Fire Departments, Swanzey Fire Department and Winchester and DiLuzio ambulances. Anyone with further

information on this crash is encouraged to contact Sgt. Daniel Brow at 603-223-8494 or by email at Daniel.brow@dos.nh.gov.
