4 area grads having college success

BRATTLEBORO — Bellows Falls Union High School graduate Sarah Wells has scored five goals and dished out six assists for the Castleton University field hockey team this season.

In recent action, the junior forward tallied twice during her team's 4-1 victory over Thomas on Oct. 7. She also set up a goal when the Spartans (8-8) fell to Husson 4-2 on Saturday.

Wells now has 21 goals and 16 helpers in her first three college seasons combined.

Castleton will host Fitchburg State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Colin Lozito

The Twin Valley grad has two goals and a pair of assists this season for the Norwich University men's soccer team.

During the Cadets' recent four-game winning streak, he scored against Plymouth State and had a helper versus Regis. The senior midfielder has found the back of the net seven times and dished out 14 assists so far on the college pitch.

Norwich (7-3-4) will play at Mount Ida on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Elkanah Linder

The junior from Townshend is 6-6 this season for the University of the Sciences (Philadelphia) women's tennis team.

She is just the third player in program history to win 30 singles matches. On Saturday against Caldwell, the daughter of Moss and Elizabeth Linder won 6-3, 6-1 at second singles and teamed up with Danielle Paran for an 8-3 victory at second doubles.

The 6-4 Devils will compete in the CACC Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Hanna Buedinger

The Vernon resident has 18 assists, 17 digs, five kills and a couple of aces during her freshman season with the Johnson State College women's volleyball team.

Her highlights were 10 total assists at Bay Path on Sept. 2 and 10 digs versus Paul Smith's College on Sept. 17.

The 0-17 Badgers will host Southern Vermont on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
