BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys lacrosse player Ryan Tyler scored a goal and won a couple of draws for the South at the Rising Stars game on Monday night at Norwich University in Northfield.

Three other Colonels played on Tyler's team. Tanner Edson and Gus Williams each scooped up some ground balls, while Liam "Big Bird" McNeil caused several turnovers.

Williams scored and Tyler set up a goal when BUHS fell to Burlington, 14-3, in a Division 1 playdown game. The purple and white ended up with a 5-12 record.

McNeil was named to the Marble Valley League's First Team, joining defenders Steve Schmidt (Burr and Burton) and Ora Astbury (Woodstock). Charles Burroughs, who tallied twice for the Colonels in their first-round playoff game, and goalie Caleb Martin both made the MVL's Second Team.

Burroughs was Brattleboro's offensive leader during the regular season as well, finishing with 32 goals and 14 assists. Tyler chipped in with 20 tallies and a dozen dimes.
