4 nominated for athlete of the week

BRATTLEBORO — The defending state champion Bellows Falls girls and boys track teams exploded off the starting blocks in Friday's season opener and ran away from seven other schools.

Brattleboro's varsity baseball team also showed plenty of speed out of the gate, stealing four bases during an 11-0 rout in Westminster. And Hailey Derosia's pitches were traveling really fast on Saturday, when the BUHS senior fanned 14 and fired a no-hitter against Otter Valley.

Four other area students have also turned heads early in the season and have earned themselves a chance to win a Brattleboro Bowl prize.
