A benefit screening for African youth organization

BRATTLEBORO — There will be a benefit screening on Friday of "Sauti," a documentary of young Africans fleeing their war-torn countries to a Ugandan refugee camp. In a Ugandan refugee settlement five teen-aged girls approach their uncertain futures to create lives of their own choosing with tenacity, tenderness and imagination. The screening is in support of COBURWAS International Youth Organization to Transform Africa (CIYOTA).

Two of the stars of the film will be present at the showing to talk and answer questions. The screening takes place at 6 p.m. on Friday, at Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery, 139 Main St. It will be followed by refreshments and a discussion featuring one of the stars of the film, as well as CIYOTA co-founder, other special guests. Admission is $15. Tickets are available at the door or at carrymekhome.org.
