BRATTLEBORO — At the multipurpose room at Brattleboro Union High School, members of the Windham County Sheriff's Office got a refresher on use-of-force training on Monday, March 2, 2020.

The training was run by Deputy First Class Christopher Devito, who said they try to get more than the four-hour minimum set by the Vermont Criminal Justice Council on the use of force.

"It is one of those things that we need to be refreshed all the time how we properly do things while keeping the public safe," said Devito. "We always try to deescalate, but once in a while when it does come to that, we got to know what we are doing to keep people safe."
