Fire up the summer season in Wilmington during the annual South Main Salsa Block Party on Sunday. Featuring salsa dance lessons, a Latin band, and the popular salsa contest, the South Main Salsa Block Party is a fun time for the whole family. The block party runs from 4 until 7 p.m. in Wilmington.

Kicking things off this year is a salsa dance lesson at 4 p.m. by Michael Rodriguez. The South Main Salsa contest is heading into its third year in partnership with the Twin Valley Jr. Iron Chef program. Block party attendees can be judges by purchasing a container of chips for $5 from the Jr. Iron Chef booth. Pettee Memorial Library will have both face painting and hula-hooping on its lawn. Stop by and have your face painted April Horton or learn to hula-hoop with Serenity Circles. Hula-hoops will be available throughout the block party for attendees to try out.
