SAXTONS RIVER — The following area students graduated from Vermont Academy during the school's 135th commencement on May 25: Jackson Barnes and Wulff Lauterbach of Guilford, Anita Blossom and Samuel Kendrick of Saxtons River, Gwen Coger of Chester, Miranda Fuller of Putney, Sydney Henry of Brattleboro, Maureen Hughes of Westminster, Anika Kapral of Dummerston, John Peloso of Townshend, and Cody Thurber of Bellows Falls
Blossom and Kendrick graduated cum laude. Blossom, Henry and Kapral graduated as members of Vermont Academy's National Honor Society chapter.
In delivering her commencement address, Head of School Dr. Jennifer Zaccara gave the new graduates advice to take on their journeys after high school: "The first step in the path to discovery is to be vulnerable," Zaccara said. "You can't do what you know and expect something unexpected and original. You also have to be open, always looking through the window to what lies in the distance."
This fall, Blossom will attend Tufts University, Kendrick will attend Kalamazoo College, Coger will attend the University of Vermont, Fuller will attend Bennington College, Henry will attend Salve Regina University, Hughes will attend West Virginia University, Kapral will attend Saint Michael's College, Peloso will attend Stonehill College, and Thurber will attend Jacksonville University.
