Australian Pursuit races are Wednesday night

Posted
BRATTLEBORO — The final Fun Run of the year will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on Upper Dummerston Road. The start/finish line is located near the entrance to the Brattleboro Country Club.

These races are free to enter and are open to everyone. Water and cookies will be provided as usual by race directors Gary and Chris Montgomery — a duo that has been running this event for the past 20 years.

Participants will have the option of entering the one, two or three-mile road races or the 2.4-mile trail run. The three-miler and the trail run will each have an Australian Pursuit format, with the faster runners giving their opposition a head start.

Two $50 gift certificates will be drawn at random from all runners who have attended a minimum of three runs of any distance during the Fun Run season.

Steve McCarthy and Lester Humphreys are the defending Australian Pursuit champions. McCarthy won the final three-mile race last year and Humphreys took the trail run title, with each race having a staggered start.
