Bellows Falls girls trounce Wildcats

WESTMINSTER — Four different players scored in double figures, helping the Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball team to an easy 74-19 rout of Twin Valley on Wednesday night.

Halle Dickerson paced the winners with 20 points. Maya Waryas (12 points), Sydney Bazin (11) and Taylor Goodell (10) also had hot hands.

Kate Longe scored 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the 1-5 Wildcats. Celia Betit and Sadie Boyd each chipped in with four boards, while Jayden Crawford finished with four steals.

It was the first win of the season for the Terriers, who got off to an 0-4 start.

Hinsdale sweeps Concord Christian

HINSDALE, N.H. — In Wednesday's varsity basketball games against Concord Christian, the Hinsdale boys prevailed 50-38 and the Lady Pacers won 65-26.

"Ryan Lee was a monster tonight, shutting down Isaac Jarvis. He and Dylan Harden held Jarvis to just nine points," said Hinsdale boys coach Carl Anderson, whose team improved to 1-5 on the season.

Harden scored 21 points and Arth Patel added 15 for the Pacers.

Delaney Wilcox pumped in 21 points to power the 6-1 Hinsdale girls. Megan Roberts (17 points) and Audrey Martin (9) also did damage.

The Hinsdale teams will play at Gorham on Friday night.

Brattleboro boys cruise on ice

MONTPELIER — Anthony Palomba, Will Taggard, Sam Hall and Jack Pattison all tallied twice as the Brattleboro varsity boys ice hockey team won 11-2 over U-32 on Wednesday.

Ryan Gerard, Joe Koes and Gabe Heiden also lit the lamp for the winners. Brattleboro's Austin Wood (11 saves) and Darek Harvey (3 saves) split time in net.

The 5-2-1 Colonels trail only undefeated Harwood in the Division 2 standings.

Men's Basketball League

BRATTLEBORO — On Wednesday at the Gibson-Aiken Center, Hazel routed W&B Management 90-64 and Brown Enterprise topped Dixon's Painters 73-67. Hazel's Loren Kelley (31 points), W&B Management's Jake Hoak (19 points), Brown Enterprise's Shawn Goodell (24 points), and Dixon's Kyle Bauer (30 points) were the high scorers.

Free Throw Contest

WESTMINSTER — The Knights of Columbus will be holding a free throw contest on Jan. 26 at Bellows Falls Union High School. The contest is open to boys and girls ages 9-14. Age eligibility is determined by the age of the contestant as of Jan. 1. Proof of age is required.
