Bellows Falls stickers advance to championship game
"It took us a little bit to adjust to the turf," said BF coach Bethany Coursen. "We were slipping and sliding all over the place. The rain made that field slippery."
The Terriers scored twice late in the first half. Alice Salter-Roy carried the ball down and crossed it to Kelly, who buried the game winner just 2:34 before the break. Marchica then added her team's second tally.
Eight minutes into the second half, a shot by Marchica sailed just wide and Cravinho dove to tap it in.
"Overall, the girls were pretty excited and maybe a little nervous," noted coach Coursen. "Our defense did a really good job. Halle Dickerson had a great game."
Emma Lober made one save to earn the shutout. Burr and Burton's Hannah Callen made seven stops.
The 16-0 Terriers, who have now won 39 consecutive games dating back to 2015, will face No. 2 Spaulding in Saturday's championship game at UVM in Burlington. The start time has not yet been announced.
Bellows Falls will be seeking its third straight state title.
