Bellows Falls stickers remain undefeated

WESTMINSTER — Reaghan Baldasaro had a hat trick to propel the Bellows Falls varsity field hockey team to a 5-0 victory over Hartford on Thursday.

The Terriers took a 2-0 lead to the break and added three insurance goals in the second half. Sophia Hyslop and Madison Streeter chipped in with one goal apiece.

"The Hartford goalie did a really good job and made some great saves, but my team is pretty relentless in the circle," said BF coach Bethany Coursen, whose team improved to 5-0 on the season.

It was the 28th consecutive victory for the program, which has won back-to-back Division 3 state championships and put together a perfect season in 2016.

The Terriers will visit Rutland on Monday.

BRATTLEBORO — Erin McCollen drew first blood for Rutland, which ended up defeating Brattleboro 2-0 on Wednesday.

"While Brattleboro pushed forward and tried to score the equalizer in the second half, Rutland scored their second of the night with just one minute remaining in the game," said Colonels coach Edwin de Bruijn.

The winners finished with a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal. Keeper Megyn Ayotte was solid for BUHS and finished with 10 saves.

The 0-5 Colonels will host Springfield on Saturday at 10 a.m.
