BMC Brass Quintet at Retreat Farm
BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Music Center and Retreat Farm "Music Under the Stars" concert series features the BMC Brass Quintet this Saturday.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the free concert starting at 7:30 p.m. at Retreat Farm, located at 45 Farmhouse Square.
The BMC Brass Quintet includes Rob Freeberg and Melissa Griffin, both on trumpet and flugelhorn; Karen Horton on French horn; Riley Goodemote on trombone; and Susan Lemei on the tuba.
The group will play a variety of music arranged for Brass quintet, ranging from classic Baroque to popular and jazz pieces. Featured will be selections from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein.
The series continues Aug. 17 with a performance by Becky Tracy and Keith Murphy, and concludes with a performance by the Windham Orchestra Sept. 28 to celebrate the fall equinox and the Orchestra's 50th anniversary. Series sponsors are Against the Grain Gourmet and Vermont State Employee Credit Union (VSECU).
Concertgoers are free to spread out blankets and lawn chairs on the green at Farmhouse Square. Attendees can bring their own picnic dinner or choose from an array of food truck fare and creemees from the Farm Shop.
