Bob Thibault quits new Windham Southeast school board

Posted

BRATTLEBORO — Bob Thibault resigned from the Windham Southeast School District board to make way for a write-in candidate.

"I ran only because no one else from Dummerston stepped up at the time," he said. "On voting day, there was a write-in candidate who secured quite a few votes. Knowing that my schedule, as a husband, parent of seven, and principal would limit the level of commitment I was able to make, once I learned of the other interested party, I felt that they should be able to fill the spot, and do a better job for the children of the district."

Thibault is principal at Leland & Gray Union Middle and High School in Townshend. In the past, he has served on the Dummerston Town School Board.

The May 21 election saw Thibault receive 383 votes to write-in candidate and Dummerston Town School Board member Susan Meggiolaro's 122.

"The process for replacing a merged board member is a little different as the select board of the town is a part of the process," Superintendent Lyle Holiday said. "We are accepting letters of interest until June 13."
