BOC releases swap date, paddling schedule

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Outing Club's 20th annual Spring Consignment Sale and Swap will be held Saturday in the Outlet Center on 580 Canal St. Available to sell, buy or swap are kayaks, canoes, rowboats, rowing shells, stand-up paddle boards, small sailboats and related gear; no motors or motorboats. Owners set the selling price, and BOC keeps 10 percent to fund the Summer Paddling Program, which is free and open to the public.

Consignments will be accepted on Friday, from noon to 2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. and on Saturday morning from 8:30-11:30. Trailered boats will be accepted on Saturday only. Donations of usable boats and/or gear are greatly appreciated.

Swap and viewing will take place from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday and the sale will go from noon to 2 p.m. For the first hour of the sale, all prices are fixed. The fun starts at 1 p.m., when offers, negotiations and auctions take palace for most of the remaining consignments. The idea is to get everything sold. Most sales happen during this period; it can be a wild time.

The Summer Paddling Schedule is as follows: May 8 — Connecticut River, Hinsdale setbacks; May 26 — Connecticut River, Bellows Falls to Walpole NH; May 29 — Sherman Reservoir in Whitingham; June 5 — Tully Lake in Royalston MA; June 19 — Ashuelot River in Keene NH; June 22 — Sunrise/picnic at Harriman Reservoir in Wilmington; Aug. 24-25 — Upper Connecticut River Paddle & Camp in Vermont and New Hampshire; Sept. 18 — Connecticut River, Herricks Cove in Rockingham; Sept. 25 — Leader's Choice (looking for fall colors); Sept. 28 — Somerset Reservoir in Somerset; Oct. 2 — Leader's Choice (looking for fall colors).
