Brattleboro 12s fall in Game 1

BENNINGTON — Alex McClelland and Harper Cutler each scored a run for the Brattleboro 12-year-old Little League All-Star baseball team during Thursday night's 6-2 loss to Bennington.

Cutler went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead the visitors offensively. John Satterfield and Derek Sage each drew a walk.

Hunter Sherwin had a couple of hits at the top of the order to lead the winners. Sean Moriarty's double was the highlight for top-seeded Bennington during a six-run third inning.

Game 2 of the best-of-three District 2 championship series will be played in Bennington on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Second-ranked Brattleboro beat No. 3 Rutland 8-2 on Tuesday to reach the finals. Hurlers Riley Morse, Evan Wright and Cutler combined for a two-hitter in that clutch win.
