Brattleboro Area HospiceNew Taking Steps coordinator named


BRATTLEBORO — Don Freeman has joined the staff of Brattleboro Area Hospice as a Taking Steps Brattleboro Program Coordinator. Freeman will oversee the organization's Advance Care Planning (ACP)/Advance Directive (AD) activities for anyone in Windham County interested in receiving ACP services with the goal of completing her/his/their Advance Directive.

Freeman has been an Advance Care volunteer for three years. In addition to his work with BAH, he leads patient self-management workshops for people living with chronic diseases, chronic pain, diabetes and cancer. He brings many years of professional experience as a hospital administrator, long-term care ombudsman program director and working with youth.

Freeman said he is pleased to be leading a group of committed ACP volunteers providing people with an opportunity to have in-depth conversations about personal values and beliefs connected with quality of life, serious medical situations and end-of-life planning including completing or updating an Advance Directive.
