Brattleboro girls earn XC team title

WESTMINSTER — In a pair of photo finishes, Brattleboro's Sarah Gallagher finished two seconds behind gold medalist Anna Lehman of Stratton in the girls race and Brattleboro's Isaac Freitas-Eagan finished one second behind Stratton's Ben Ogden in the boys race at the annual Russ Pickering cross-country meet.

"The girl's team once again displayed their depth, placing five runners in the top 10 to finish first in their four-school meet," said BUHS coach John Dimick.

The first five finishers for the Colonel girls were Gallagher, 2nd, 19:48; Annie Takacs, 4th, 21:42; Liz Morse, 7th, 22:37; Alexandra Miskovich, 8th, 22:48; and Molly Patenaude, 9th, 23:01. They took the team title with 26 points and were followed by Rutland (62), Stratton (63), and Burr and Burton (80).

Leading the way in the boy's race were the teams of Stratton (22 points), Brattleboro (41), and Bellows Falls (67). Saint Michael took sixth with 150 points.

Isaac Freitas Eagan was the runnerup in 16:24 to lead the Colonels. Trevor Kipp wound up sixth in 17:48, Colin Costa-Walsh placed eighth in 18:14, Evan Koch took 12th in 19:00, and Bram Tabachnik finished 13th in 19:01.

Lia Clark ended up third in 21:13 to pace the BF girls. Ian Wallace crossed the line in seventh place in a time of 18:08 to lead the BF boys.
