Brattleboro girls skate into semis

MONTPELIER — Tobin Lonergan had a hat trick as No. 6 Brattleboro upset No. 3 U-32, 5-3, in a Division 2 girls hockey quarterfinal on Tuesday night.

Juliana Miskovich chipped in with a pair of goals and two assists for the winners. Liz Day also set up two goals, while Liv Romo and Lonergan each had a helper.

Renee Robert tallied twice for U-32. Allie Guthrie also lit the lamp.

Lila Alexander and Jenna Murrow both played aggressively for the 8-12-1 Colonels. Eliya Petrie made some great saves late in the third period.

The highlight took place with 1:29 left in the second period, when Miskovich stole the puck from Robert and skated in for a goal.

Brattleboro will either face No. 7 Missisquoi Valley or No. 2 North Country/Lyndon in a Final 4 contest.

Boys Basketball

MORRISVILLE — The Leland & Gray varsity boys basketball team lost to Peoples Academy 55-32 in a Division 3 playoff game on Tuesday.

The Rebels were perfect at the charity stripe on the night.

Liam Towle paced the Townshend team with eight points. Lucas Newton (7 points), Christian Thomsen (6), Mike Fitzpatrick (6) and Matt Emerson (5) also contributed at the offensive end.

Leland & Gray finished up with a 4-17 mark.
