Brattleboro runners seeking an MVL repeat
BRATTLEBORO — Trevor Kipp and Evan Koch have been named the captains of the Brattleboro Union High School boys cross-country team, which will debut at Bellows Falls on Sept. 4.
Kipp placed 29th and Koch finished 56th at last year's Division 1 state championship meet. BUHS coach John Dimick is also expecting strong performances from Bram Tabachnik, Nolan Holmes, Sam Freitas-Eagan and freshman Finn Lamorder.
"Last season, both teams were the Marble Valley League champions and runners-up as teams in the Connecticut Valley Championships. The boys' team placed sixth in the D-I state meet and the girls placed seventh," noted coach Dimick.
Captains Sarah Gallagher and Liz Morse will lead the Colonel girls this season. They ended up seventh and 67th, respectively, in last year's state meet.
"Caitlyn Robinson is a new runner who looks strong at this point," Dimick stated.
Elery Loggia, Mollie Patenaude, Alexandra Miskovich and Bella Takacs will also be counted on in the team scoring.
"Both teams will be working hard to try to repeat as MVL champions and we'll evaluate our chances to qualify for New Englands as the season progresses," said the veteran BUHS coach.
