Brattleboro skaters win GSL Midget title

BRATTLEBORO — On Sunday afternoon, the Brattleboro Hockey Association's Mites scrimmaged with the Pleasant Valley Association. The two teams renewed their VAHA rivalry at the Nelson Withington Arena at Brattleboro's Living Memorial Park. Goaltender Alex Fortier led the Mite Hawks efforts, notching a shutout in goal. BHA goal scorers in this cross-ice hockey contest included Ethan Ahnert, Damian Bliss, Jordan Denny, Senji Kimura, Carson Mialkowski and Colby Robinson.

The BHA Bantams played their fifth road game of the season and tied the Holy Name Stars 3-3. Brett Parsons tallied twice for Brattleboro, with assists from Cam Hebert and Owen Perry. Will Taggard put away a pass by Jack Pattison.

Juliana Miskovich scored for the Brattleboro U14 girls team during a loss to the Western Massachusetts Blizzard. Willow Romo and Rosie Carignan were credited with helpers, while Angela Jobin, Abbey Squires and Grace Szpila also played well for the Hawks.

BHA's U12/U14 combined team rebounded with a 3-1 victory over the Northshire Bulldogs. Katie Inman, Carignan and Miskovich did the scoring for the winners.

The Brattleboro Squirt White Hawks fell to Amherst Red 6-4 and then trounced Amherst White 9-1. Andy Cay had two goals and Evan Wright a goal and two assists versus Amherst Red, while both players would light the lamp four times against Amherst White. Forward Carter Mialkowski impressed with his back checking in the win.

BHA's Squirt Blue Hawks fell to the Springfield Capitals 11-4 and then lost to the Westfield Bombers 4-1. Cohen Bassler tallied twice against the Caps and got Brattleboro on the board versus the Bombers, while Zain Lent was solid between the pipes. Kaleb Betit and Nico Conathan-Leach also tallied in the opener.

In Preseason High School action, Brattleboro completed its season with 11 victories and won the GSL Midget title for the first time in BHA history. During a 7-0 rout of the Ludlow Lions, Austin Wood recorded his third shutout of the season. Kamron Pelkey, Connor Murphy and Eric Chase all tallied twice, while the victors got three assists each from Ernesto Antonucci and Gabe Heiden.
