BRATTLEBORO — Hailey Derosia and Leah Madore combined for a one-hit shutout to help the Brattleboro varsity softball team to a 23-0 rout of Mill River on Friday at Sawyer Field.

Derosia fanned five, walked zero and gave up zero hits in four innings of work. Madore struck out three, walked none and allowed just one hit.

"Both Hailey and Leah did a great job on the mound. Hailey has the ability to throw the ball by batters, while Leah has great spin on her pitches," said winning coach Kelly Markol.

Rachael Rooney (4 hits), Derosia (3 hits and 5 RBI), Lauren McKenney (3 hits and 4 RBI) and Garrette Shanks (3 hits and 2 RBI) all had special days at the plate for the hosts. Derosia and McKenney each went deep.

Bella Powell and Alexa Kinley followed with two hits apiece. Mya McAuliffe, Kylee Smith and Julie Hendricks all finished with one hit for the 10-3 Colonels.
