Brattleboro XC teams strike gold

BENNINGTON — Isaac Freitas-Eagan won in 17:18, just four seconds off the course record time he set a week ago, to lead the Brattleboro boys cross-country team to victory in a four-school meet.

The Colonels finished with 26 points and were followed by MAU (30 points), BBA (69), and Rutland (79).

Rounding out the team scoring were: Colin Costa Walsh, 3rd, 17:56; Trevor Kipp, 4th, 18:36; David Pierce, 7th, 19:13; and Bram Tabachnik, 11th, 19:20.

"Good racing by David Pierce and Bram Tabachnik proved to be key to the win," said BUHS coach John Dimick. "The girls were missing their No. 1 runner, Sarah Gallagher due to illness but put on an impressive display of strength and depth against a MAU team that was also shorthanded, and cruised to an easy win."

The BUHS girls ended up with 26 points, MAU scored 53, BBA took the bronze with 69 points, and Rutland finished fourth with 74.

Annie Takacs placed fourth in 22:41 to lead the winners. Emilia Dick Fiora del Fabro was sixth in 23:25, Alexandra Miskovich took seventh in 23:27, Liz Morse was eighth in 23:43, and Mollie Patenaude wound up ninth in 23:54.
