Brown Bag Lunch: Learn about health, happiness and nature

BRATTLEBORO — All Brown Bag Lunch events take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Robert H Gibson River Garden, 157 Main St., Brattleboro, and are free and open to the public.

On Monday and Tuesday, join Lisa Blake for What is Baha'i? If you've never heard of Baha'i, you might want to find out, since it will be around for a long time. Or perhaps you have an inkling of it, but want to know more.

On Wednesday, join Tim Stevenson for A Meditative Vigil of Lovingkindness. With a banner that reads "May All Beings Be Free Of Pain And Suffering, May All Beings Know Peace And Happiness. Please Join Us" Post Oil Solutions is hosting silent vigils of lovingkindness for the peaceful, socially just society we are all seeking. The Vigil of Lovingkindness is intended to give voice to these values — selfless love, personal integrity, service to others, moral courage, and a basic commitment to the sacredness of life. Chairs available but feel free to bring a cushion or mat.

On Thursday, Be Healthy, Enjoy Nature with Bill Pearson, who will discuss how to improve our health by being in nature. Pearson will ask participants to share examples from their own experiences

On Friday, join Elliot Greenblott of AARP for Weapons of Fraud, an overview of the leading scams, techniques of con artists, and discussion of the steps to take to avoid victimization. This is referred to this as the "Flagship" presentation as it is oldest program of the Brown Bag Lunch and has been presented most frequently. While addressing a wide range of issues, it does not cover computer/cyber scams .
