BUHS football team loses to Colchester

COLCHESTER — Following a victory over rival MAU in the annual Elwell Trophy game, the Brattleboro varsity football team fell to Colchester 55-13 on Friday night.

Both of Brattleboro's touchdowns came through the air. Tyler Millerick connected with Chris Frost for a 25-yarder and Kyle Derosia threw a halfback pass to Malick Mane for a score.

Zach Morin threw a TD strike to Steve Emmons and also had a 51-yard rushing touchdown to lead the Lakers, who improved to 3-5 and earned a Division 1 playoff berth. Kevin Otto, Quinton Hoskins, Thurman Dusablon, Brayden Dugan, Andrew Spencer and Damon Crowley all had one score on the ground.

Boys Soccer

WILMINGTON — Jimmer McGovern tallied twice as Twin Valley blanked Arlington, 4-0.

Dylan Dupuis and Jack McHale also found the back of the net. Colin McHale, Jack McHale and Dupuis all had one helper.

Josh Carpenter-O'Hearn made three saves for the 13-1 Wildcats.

Cross Country

The Hinsdale girls won their conference championship meet for the first time in program history. Maggie St. John placed second overall in 20:39 to lead the way. Rachael Girroir (9th), Megan Roberts (15th), Juliana Yialiades (17th), Kailyn Fleury (22nd) and Allie Yialiades (31st) also contributed.

"We were trailing both Newmarket and Derryfield at the halfway point, but we were able to pass some runners over the second half of the race. I'm very proud of the entire team today.," said Hinsdale coach Glenn Hammett, whose girls team edged those two schools by just three points each.

The Pacers placed sixth in the boys meet. Alex Schwartz ended up 14th in 19:50 to lead Hinsdale, which will compete in the Division 3 Championships at Derryfield Park on Oct. 28.
