BUHS football team to start camp Aug. 13

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Union High School football team's equipment pickup and team/parents meeting will take place on Aug. 12. Seniors will get their equipment at noon, followed by juniors at 1 p.m., sophomores at 2 p.m. and freshmen at 3 p.m. At least one parent of each player must be present for the 5 p.m. meeting.

The preseason camp for the purple and white will begin on Aug. 13. There will be a single practice from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 and Aug. 14, while the first double session is set for Aug. 15 (7 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and then 4:30-6:30 p.m.).

A pair of scrimmages have been set up for BUHS, including Aug. 21 at Mill River at 5 p.m. and Aug. 24 at Keene at 7 p.m.

The Colonels will host Rutland in their Aug. 31 season opener at 7 p.m. The remainder of their schedule looks like this: Sept. 7 — host Colchester at 7 p.m., Sept. 15 — at Mount Mansfield at 3 p.m., Sept. 21 — at SeaWolves (in South Burlington) at 7 p.m., Sept. 28 — host Saint Johnsbury at 7 p.m., Oct. 5 — at Hartford at 7 p.m., Oct. 12 — at Mount Anthony Union at 7 p.m., Oct. 19 — host Saint Albans at 7 p.m.

In the rivalry game, Brattleboro will be looking to improve its Elwell Trophy series record to 26-18 over MAU. Kris Carroll had seven catches for 98 yards in a 28-14 victory over the Patriots last fall.

The Colonels went 1-7 during the 2017 regular season. This is Chad Pacheco's fourth year as the head coach.

The freshmen team will begin practicing on Aug. 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The coach will give players a complete practice schedule on that day.
