Bulldogs get revenge on Terriers

WESTMINSTER — In a rematch of the 2016 Division 2 championship game, the Burr and Burton varsity football team outscored Bellows Falls 23-6 on Friday night at Hadley Field.

Quarterback Jay McCoy ran for 170 yards and threw for 127 more, with one TD and one interception, to lead the Bulldogs (2-1). Jake Baker contributed with a 41-yard run to paydirt.

The 2-1 Terriers, who began the season with easy wins over Spaulding and Brattleboro, finished with 184 rushing yards and 74 more through the air. Shane Clark ran for over 100 yards and scored BF's lone touchdown, while sophomore Andrew Elliott had an interception to lead the Purple Gang's defense.

The last time these teams met, Bellows Falls upset BBA 20-14 in the 2016 title tilt in Rutland.

On Friday night at 7, Bellows Falls will visit Springfield for the annual Trophy Game. Burr and Burton will host Fair Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m.
