Career Center awarded at national leadership conference
ST. JOHNSBURY — The Windham Regional Career Center was recognized with top honors at the recent Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference.
The conference was held June 29 through July 2 in San Antonio. Participants from across the United States and abroad came to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, participate in more than 70 business and business-related events, and compete for the opportunity to win more than $179,000 in cash awards.
Windham Regional Career Center's Chapter received national recognition at the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program on July 2. The chapter competed in the Annual Business Report event and brought home a ninth place finish.
The Annual Business Report should include the chapter's program of work and describes the activities of the chapter that were conducted between the start of the previous State Leadership Conference and the current State Leadership Conference.
"I am so proud of the students and chapter leaders of the Windham Regional Career Center. Their dedication to the goal of bringing business and education together is to be honored and replicated," Sarah Emery, executive director of the Vermont FBLA organization, said in a statement.
The award was part of a national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational speakers on a broad range of business topics.
