Castleton football team coming off 6-4 season

Reformer Staff

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School graduate Tony Martinez and Bellows Falls grad Caleb Lisai are both listed on the Castleton University football team's tentative roster.

Martinez had one reception for 19 yards during his freshman season with the Spartans. Lisai is one of five quarterbacks on the team, along with 2017 starter Mitchell Caron, Brendan Burrell, Kyle Lynch and Alex O'Connell.

Castleton, which went 6-4 last season, will host Plymouth State in its Sept. 1 season opener at 1 p.m.

In just two games at receiver for the Colonels, Martinez had 10 catches for over 100 yards and one score. He spent most of his high school career under center, helping the purple and white win eight total games during his final two seasons.

Lisai was voted a Reformer Athlete of the Week after completing 5 of 6 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown when Bellows Falls pounded rival Springfield 42-6 in the annual Trophy Game during his senior year with the Terriers.
