Colonel boys to debut at Wahconah
BRATTLEBORO — It's been a perfect senior year so far for Spencer Lawrence and Tyler Millerick, who helped the Brattleboro Union High School varsity football team to an 11-0 season.
They will put that impressive winning streak on the line when the Colonels play at Wahconah in a varsity boys basketball season opener on Friday night at 7.
The Colonels went 12-8 last winter to earn the No. 10 seed in the Division 1 Tournament.
Millerick turned heads versus Woodstock as a junior, going off for a season-high 31 points. The electric point guard made seven consecutive shots to start that game and netted 19 total points in the first half alone.
"He has qualities, both in terms of skill and character, that are just difficult to teach. You talk about them as a coach, but he has them," stated BUHS coach Jason Coplan, adding that his point guard has self-confidence, hustles, and leads by example.
The Colonels will face Woodstock in their home opener on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
