Colonel girls dominate on the courts
PITTSFORD — The Brattleboro Union High School varsity girls tennis team defeated Otter Valley, 7-0, on Tuesday at the Pittsford Rec Center.
Alissa Walkowiak, Camden Haskins, Paige Starkweather and Maia McNeill all won a singles match for the purple and white. Amelia Harrison and Jillian Mahon prevailed 8-4 at first doubles.
Camden Haskins had a battle at No. 2 singles, but was able to rally and bring home the win," noted BUHS coach Seth Marcil. "Brattleboro has been working hard, and it is showing."
The Colonels (4-3) won by forfeit at both fifth singles and second doubles.
TOWNSHEND — Leland & Gray beat Long Trail 15-4 on Monday in front of a substantial and enthusiastic home crowd.
"We played stingy defense, converting many of their turnovers into goals," said winning coach Paul Paytas.
Lucas Newton led the home team with five assists and six blocks. Owen Ameden was also on fire, ending up with four goals and four blocks.
The 3-2 Rebels will host Burr and Burton on Thursday.
