BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Union High School varsity girls soccer team has a chance to end two long droughts this fall, since its last playoff victory came in 2007 and its last winning season was a 7-6-2 campaign eight years ago.

The Colonel girls will scrimmage against Leland & Gray and Twin Valley before opening the 2018 season in the Lady Patriot Classic in Bennington versus Wahconah, Mass. on Sept. 6 at 5 p.m.

Brattleboro went 3-12 last year and failed to qualify for the Division 1 Tournament for the first time since 1998.

Needing at least a tie in their regular-season finale in order to make the field, the purple and white lost to Burr and Burton 1-0. Megyn Ayotte, who was one of five seniors on that team, made 15 saves against the defending state champions.

The Colonels will host Mount Anthony Union on Sept. 17 and face their rivals again in Bennington on Oct. 15. Their complete schedule is shown below.
