Colonels, Terriers to race in Thetford Saturday


BRATTLEBORO — After sweeping their latest meets, the Brattleboro and Bellows Falls cross-country teams will compete in the Woods Trail Run in Thetford on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Nashua South (N.H.) junior Cali Coffin was the first female finisher in the 2018 event, prevailing in a time of 18:40 over the 5k course as a 10th grader. Abby Broadley, of Bellows Falls, wound up 13th in that race in 20:29, while Bella Takacs placed 112th in 22:38 to pace Brattleboro as a junior.

Champlain Valley Union took the girls team title with 87 points. Bellows Falls ended up 10th out of the 47 qualifying schools.

Bay Stater Jack Yanko won the 2018 Woods Trail Run in 16:32 as a senior and was followed by current senior Henry Farrington from Essex in 16:35. BF's Tim Salter-Roy wound up 99th in 19:05, while Brattleboro's Finn LaMorder placed 118th in 19:17.

The Colonels swept a duel meet with rival Mount Anthony Union on Tuesday at Fort Dummer State Park, with race winner Bram Tabachnick and bronze medalist Caitlyn Robinson leading the charge. Broadley finished first and Salter-Roy crossed the line in third when the Terriers swept a six-school meet on Tuesday in Windsor.
