Newfane: Today, at noon, at the Newfane Congregational Church, there will be dinner for seniors in Newfane and surrounding communities. The menu includes deviled eggs, cranberry jello salad, meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, carrots, rolls and gingerbread with cream. This meal is prepared by Winnie Dolan, hosted by Barbara Brooks, and served by hard-working volunteers from the church and community. It is sponsored by Senior Solutions. Jamaica: Today's lunch at noon at the Community Church on Main Street is sponsored by Senior Solutions of Vermont. Food is prepared by Stephanie of the Dam Diner fame. Volunteers from the Jamaica Benefit Association set tables, clean up and supply juice, coffee and paper goods. Children from the Jamaica Elementary School come as volunteers and their company is enjoyed by the seniors. No reservations are required, all are welcome to come and socialize with old friends and meet new ones. Price is $3.50 for seniors over 60 all others $4.
Newfane: There will be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Cutts family, following a fire that claimed the lives of two members, on Sunday, at the NewBrook Fire Department from 4 to 6:30 p.m. This dinner is by monetary donation only. Chester: The Chester Senior Citizens Club hosts its monthly luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, at the Chester Congregational Church on Main Street. A Chinese Auction is planned so bring items around your home that you no longer need or want. Members will bid on them and the proceeds will help fund the Club's treasury. Also bring a place setting, if possible a dish to share, and a friend. If you need a ride, just call Georgia at 802-875-6242.
Halifax: Friday, Jan. 19, is the date of the Halifax senior meal held at the community hall at 20 Brook Rd. at noon. The menu this month is turkey pot pie with pastry crust, a baked potato, jello veggie salad, vegetable, and dessert. Sponsored by Senior Solutions.
Guilford: The Guilford Senior Lunch, sponsored by Senior Solutions, will take place on Friday, Jan. 19, at the Guilford Community Church. The menu includes beef stew and egg salad sandwiches with fruited jello for dessert. To make reservations and for more information, call 802-25-9774 no later than Wednesday, Jan. 17.
West Brattleboro: On Jan. 28, from noon to 1:45 p.m., the West Brattleboro Baptist Church at 979 Western Ave. will host its monthly community lunch. The menu includes Italian pasta bake, tossed salad, Italian bread, fruit, cake, and beverage of choice. All are welcome and the meal is free of charge.
Chesterfield, N.H.: The Chesterfield Lions Club will host its annual Super Bowl Sunday Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 4 at the Chesterfield School on Route 63. Tickets are $7 per person, ages 5 and under are free. Proceeds support local charities.
