Traditions & resolutions

Chester: Join the Chester Senior Citizens Club for the monthly luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. today at the Chester Congregational Church on Main Street. The group will share Christmas traditions and New Year resolutions. If you need a ride, call Georgia at 802-875-6242.

Community Cares

Putney: The next Putney Community Cares Luncheon for Seniors is scheduled for Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Laura Heller Community Barn, 54 Kimball Hill. The menu will include corn chowder, sandwiches, cupcakes, tea and coffee. Suggested donation is $3.50. Call 802-387-5593 or email to reserve a seat by 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21. Volunteers are also needed for help with transporting those unable to drive themselves and with the cleanup after the meal. This event is co-sponsored with Senior Solutions and is prepared by our amazing volunteers.

Wednesday Lunch

Dummerston: Evening Star Grange and Senior Solutions present their 4th Wednesday lunch on Wednesday, beginning at noon. Sallie May and Larry Lynch will present a luncheon of black bean and ham soup, corn chowder or chicken vegetable soup, with egg salad, ham and cheese, or cream cheese and olive sandwiches, and a layered salad, with fruited pistachio whip for dessert. Take-outs are available by calling the Grange on Wednesday morning at 802-254-1138. A donation of $3 for those 60 and older and $4 for the younger folks is suggested. Books from the Lydia Taft Pratt Library will be available for borrowing until the next lunch.

Community Outreach

West Brattleboro: The West Brattleboro Baptist Church, 979 Western Ave., will host a Community Outreach Luncheon from noon to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. The menu includes spaghetti and meat sauce, salad, Italian bread, dessert, beverage choice All are welcome and the lunch is free to the public.

Superbowl Sunday

Chesterfield, N.H.: The Chesterfield Lions Club will host the annual Superbowl Sunday Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 3 at the Chesterfield School on Route 63. Tickets are $7 per person, ages 5 and under are free. Buffet Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, muffins, coffee, milk and juice. Proceeds support local charities.
