Open studio organizers seek more participation

Organizers of the Cotton Mill Open Studio & Holiday Sale 2019 say the event will be canceled unless a collective effort by people in the community is achieved.

There will be meeting at the Cotton Mill pertaining to this year's Cotton Mill Open Studio & Holiday Sale 2019. Anyone interested in participating in this year's event are requested at the meeting, 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in the second floor meeting room at the Cotton Mill.

Talk explores link between Judaism, China

Centre Congreational Church, 193 Main St., with host a talk by Tiberin Weisz on the Cultural Link between Judaism and China, this Friday. There will be refreshments and conversation from 7 p.m., and the talk will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Learn about the traces of biblical Judaism that are found in the sayings of ancient Chinese sages. Learn about the Jewish community of Kaifeng, one of the eight ancient capitals of China, in east-central Henan province, a community which has inscribed the story of their temple in stone.

WWAC Chairman Eshagh Shaoul has invited speaker, scholar and author Tiberiu Weisz, who will compare the rich histories of the Chinese and Jewish peoples. Born in the central Romanian region of Transylvania, educated in Europe, Israel, the U.S. and Taiwan, Weisz is fluent in Chinese and Hebrew. He has college teaching experience in both Hebrew history and Chinese religion. Additionally, Weisz has honed his expertise while researching and writing three books, works which display the scope and depth of his knowledge.

Senior Center temporary closure

The Brattleboro Recreation and Parks Department announced that the Brattleboro Senior Center will be closed to both the congregate meals and all activities that occur in the Senior Center due to kitchen floor replacement Sept. 7-15. During this time activities such as painting classes and Tai Chi will still run in their normal time and location on various other floors of the building. Please use the front entrance of the building during this time frame. The Congregate Meals and Meals on Wheels food will be prepared at different facility during this time. Seeking members of Hinsdale Class of 1970

The Hinsdale Class of 1970 will celebrate their 50th High School Reunion in June 2020. Organizers are attempting to locate all classmates and need assistance to obtain contact information. E-mail or call with your contact information, even if you have given it to an alumni association in the past as organizers may not have your current information.
