Cougars pounce on Colonel girls

Posted

JERICHO — The Brattleboro varsity girls soccer team was shut out by Mount Mansfield, 3-0.

"The Colonels defended very well, put pressure on their opponent anywhere and everywhere on the field to slow down the attack, and frustrated their opponent's play. It was a game played mostly in the midfield," said Brattleboro coach Edwin de Bruijn.

The Cougars, who took a 2-0 halftime lead, had a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal in the game.

"All Colonel players deserve a big compliment for how they played, how well they played their positions, how they supported and communicated with each other, and how they enjoyed playing the game of soccer. It was a good team effort," added the Brattleboro coach.

The 1-5 Colonels will play at Mill River on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
