During the month of June, Grafton and Westminster Elementary Schools had the opportunity to participate in the Northeast Farm to School Institute at Shelburne Farms in northern Vermont. A team of seven individuals comprising four teachers, two child nutrition professionals and one administrator spent three full days at the farm planning for the Farm to School Program in Windham Northeast. School officials say they are excited to create new and meaningful connections between the cafeteria, now called the Farm to School Cafe, and the classrooms. The schools intend to reinforce local food and food systems topics in classrooms, gardens and other outdoor spaces this next school year.
