Dash to the Dam set for Oct. 21

TOWNSHEND — West River Valley Thrives will host its annual costume 5k run/walk on Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. along the West River Trail.

Runners will race from the "Old Route 30" trailhead to the Townshend Dam Rec Area in this Dash to the Dam event. At the finish there will be food, drinks and activities, including bobbing for apples and pumpkin painting. At 10:30 a.m., prizes will be handed out to top finishers as well as those with the most creative costumes. The race fees will be $20 for adults and $15 for ages 14 and under.

This race is a fundraiser for West River Valley Thrives, a youth substance abuse prevention coalition in Townshend. All proceeds will be donated to area Girls on the Run and Heart and Sole programs.
