Deepen your understanding of being white in racist society

PUTNEY — The public is invited to join in a film and discussion series designed to help people develop clearer understandings of how racism impacts us in a predominately white community. The community right now is alive with conversations and activity about racism. In this series, participants will take a deeper dive into specific aspects of being white.

The program begins this Friday, looking at White Fragility and White Privilege. Gather at 6 p.m. for a light supper. The group will watch a short film by Robin DiAngelo on "Deconstructing White Privilege," followed by an opportunity for discussion and activities.

The second gathering will be on Friday, April 12, looking at Microaggressions, what they are and what to do about them. Same timing and set up.

The gatherings are in the social room of the Putney Friends Meeting House, 17 Bellows Falls Rd. (Route 5). The evenings are being sponsored by the Committee on Wrestling with White Supremacy of the Putney Friends Meeting (Quakers). For questions or directions, contact Gail Haines, or 802-258-0369.
