Derosia, Chargers off to 4-4 start


BRATTLEBORO — Madison Derosia has five hits, three runs batted in, and has crossed the plate five times this season for the University of New Haven softball team.

The senior infielder went 2-for-3 at the plate versus both Slippery Rock and King. She has started in all eight games for the 4-4 Chargers.

In her four college seasons, Derosia is batting .253, with three homers and 13 RBI. She also has 75 career assists.

The Brattleboro Union High School graduate was a Marble Valley League First Teamer as a junior and a senior. She played shortstop for the Colonels' 2013 state championship team, which also included coach Kelly Markol, coach Al Wood, coach Jeff Rawson, Kayla Wood, Mckinlie Carpenter, Bailey Paige, Daisy Giroux, Rissa Smith, Haley Struthers, Lou Lou Terwilliger, Alyssa Bezanson, Alex Derosia, Casey Manning, Jess Mann, Samantha Harrison, Jess Ogden and Morgan Derosia.

The daughter of Scott and Janet Derosia is majoring in Sports Management. She was named to the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll this season, earning Academic Excellence (4.0) accolades.

New Haven will play in a doubleheader at LIU Post on Sunday, at noon and 2 p.m.
