BRATTLEBORO — Will Franklin was the first athlete inducted into the Southern Vermont Decathlon (formerly the Brattleboro Decathlon) Hall of Fame on July 14.

Franklin graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 2006, where he competed in football, basketball, and baseball. He went on to play football in college for Mount Ida and Worcester State before making the transition to track and field in 2012.

Franklin's natural athleticism helped him win the Southern Vermont Decathlon in his first four years competing (2012-15). He was also the runner-up in 2016.

During his five years competing, he won an astounding 25 events, and placed in the top three in 14 more. Franklin holds event records in the keg toss and the vortex football throw, and also had many top performances in the sprints, hurdles, and jumps.

While Franklin has not competed in the decathlon the past three years, rumor has it that he may return in 2020.
